Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau & Daxxify
Even with a proper skincare regime and skin maintenance, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and frown lines are a natural part of life. Luckily, you don’t have to let your age show through your face. Injectables such as Botox, Xeomin, Dysport and Daxxify can help to soften the appearance of heavy wrinkles and temporarily eliminate fine lines. All three are considered neurotoxins or neuromodulators, and an excellent option for patients looking to reduce the appearance of aging without downtime.
How it works:
Neurotoxins work by inhibiting the contraction of your muscle in and around those “problem areas,” by blocking nerve signals. When this occurs, the facial muscles responsible for most facial expressions are targeted, and muscle contractions are limited, reducing wrinkles. At Bare Skin and Laser we offer Botox, Xeomin and Dysport as neurotoxin options.
What it treats:
The most commonly treated areas are those where muscle activity influences facial features, such as the following: Glabellar lines (a.k.a. “elevens” or frown lines), crow’s feet, forehead creases, corners of the mouth, and above the lip.
While botulinum toxin type A is most commonly used to treat facial wrinkles, cosmetic surgeons can also use neurotoxins to address other aesthetic concerns that are associated with nerve and muscle activity: reduce excessive sweating and soften vertical neck bands.
What to expect:
Natural-looking results take effect gradually over two weeks following your treatment and can last up to 3 – 6 months. Expect peak results between 2-4 weeks. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment, but may need to take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity, to keep your head upright for the rest of the day. Mild redness, swelling at the injection site, and bruising are the most common side effects.
